Mary created this scholarship in memory of her husband, a former Biology professor at Rock Valley College, to honor his many years teaching at RVC. William started teaching in the biology department in 1967. William also served for some time as the department chairman. Mary says that he loved every minute of his teaching at RVC. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill married Mary Gillespie on August 18, 1956 in Joliet, Illinois. He received his BS and MS from Illinois State University.
