GREGORY MAYSENT OBITUARY
Gregory Scott Maysent, 27, died on Friday, March 17, 1989 in an automobile accident. Born June 23, 1961, in Philadelphia, PA. Son of Harold and Marjorie Maysent. He was a full time student at Rock Valley College and a Guilford High School graduate. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
HAROLD MAYSENT OBITUARY
Harold “Hal” Maysent, who headed Rockford Memorial Hospital from 1972 until retiring in 1991, died at his home in Palm Desert, California. Maysent served in the US Coast Guard during World War II before earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington. He earned a Master of Science in hospital administration from Northwestern University. Maysent worked at a hospital in Philadelphia from 1955 to 1972 when he was named chief executive officer of Rockford Memorial Hospital, which was the dominant health system in the Rock River Valley. During his tenure with Rockford Memorial, Maysent also served as chairman of the Illinois Hospital Association and president of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Near the end of his tenure, Maysent worked with SwedishAmerican Hospital chief Robert Henry to merge the two organizations in an effort to control the increasing cost of healthcare. The federal government struck down the proposal because of antitrust concerns.
