“No day shall erase you from the memory of time.” – Virgil

Robert Q. Drummer was a born visionary, someone who was always one step ahead of everyone else. RVC was a catalyst for Robert’s entrepreneurial mind and helped propel him to success in the technology field. He attended Rockford public schools but never felt challenged and ultimately earned his GED through Rock Valley College. Afterwards, he enrolled in classes at RVC while working full-time. His gift was his vision and his aptitude for technology. Together with his personality and talent for marketing, he landed positions with video game start-ups, software development firms and participated in the merger & acquisition of companies in the CAD (computer- aided drafting/design) field. Sadly, he died at the age of 61 from complications following a serious car accident. His mind was still sharp and he was actively seeking new business ventures.

Like Robert, perhaps you are a GED recipient or just someone with a vision of personal success. Whatever your story, this scholarship could be a jump start for you to reach your goals. Robert would be proud of your determination and happy to be a part of your story.

Robert’s sister and her husband, Suzanne & Dan Young, are proud to offer this scholarship opportunity in Robert’s name. Robert and Suzanne worked together in various capacities at their family’s business, Rockford Map Publishers, Inc which was founded by their grandfather John Quentin Cummings in 1944. The donors are privileged to partner with the RVC Foundation and hope this offers encouragement to RVC students who are willing to work hard and make sacrifices to achieve their own dreams.
