OBITUARY
Patricia Loree Ingold passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at home in Rockford, IL, on May 16, 2023. Pat was born on Veterans Day in 1928, in Logan, Utah, graduated from Purdue, and moved to Rockford in 1956. She moved to Peterson Meadows in 2016, where she made many new friends.
Pat began teaching at the local elementary school when she moved to Rockford and continued to tutor children at area schools late into her life. A passionate educator, Pat started a scholarship at Rock Valley College for students who wanted to teach. Her love of learning wasn’t reserved just for teaching, as she was a very active participant in classes offered through the Center for Learning in Retirement and Road Scholar trips. Pat maintained a healthy lifestyle through exercise, volunteering at numerous organizations and belonging to several book groups.
Pat was a proud and active member of the Spring Creek United Church of Christ, which she joined in 1967. She served on numerous committees, including the search committee for a new minister, the worship committee, and most recently the properties committee. She was on the stewardship committee for fundraising for a new addition to the church.
Pat was an avid and talented knitter. If you knew Pat, you undoubtedly have seen some of her beautiful handmade work. She applied her love of knitting with becoming a leader in Nimble Fingers, coordinating the donation of items to various local organizations. Pat was a philanthropist giving generously to numerous local and national causes.
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Ingold of Washington, Vermont, Judy Schippers (Steve) of East Moline, Illinois, and Nancy Bentley of New Harmony, Utah. She also has two granddaughters Laura Johnston (Rick) of Waukee, Iowa, and Lisa Schippers of Saint Peters, Missouri. She is also survived by her sister Christine of South Carolina. She was very excited for her first great grandchild who is due in June of 2023.
