OBITUARY
Karen Coppoletti 1944—2018
Karen Coppoletti was born in Fort Myers, Florida to Alma (Engelbrecht) Dean and Leo Morris Dean and grew up in Evansville, Indiana, the eldest of six siblings. She attended Indiana University and then moved to Chicago where she met and married Richard Coppoletti. Together, they had children, Elizabeth and Derek and lived in Mississippi, California, Oregon and Nashville, Tennessee prior to moving back to Rockford. She enormously enjoyed family, particularly her grandchildren, with whom her bond was unbreakable. Karen was the office manager of Richard’s medical practice for many years. She had a wonderful memory and would always remember something special about patients. She loved quilting, reading, musicals and charitable giving. She supported the Rockford Music Academy, of which she was a board member for several years. She enjoyed playing bridge and other card games. She was always thinking about other people and enjoyed giving them gifts she felt they needed at critical times. Karen loved food and enjoyed watching the cooking channels. She is much loved and will be greatly missed. Karen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard; her daughter, Elizabeth (Ed Maravillas) Coppoletti and their daughter, Meghan with boyfriend, Billy Raleigh; son, Derek (Leigh) Fairchild-Coppoletti and their sons, Theo and Tate; her brother, Dr. Michael (Diane) Dean, brother, Patrick (Patty) Dean; and sister, Rebecca (Jack deceased) Mendorff. She is predeceased by her sister, Sandra (Sam deceased) Spann; by her sister, ViKi Sorensen (Roger); and her parents. She has also enjoyed numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their offspring, and many friends.
