ENBRIDGE ENERGY SCHOLARSHIP | Emily Cutka

Contact: Emily Cutka, Manager, Community Engagement

Enbridge is committed to supporting and strengthening the communities near our pipelines and facilities, and being a good neighbor means the world to them. They have provided $5,000 each year since 2015 to fund this scholarship.

Enbridge operates, in Canada and the U.S., the world’s longest crude oil and liquids pipeline system. The company owns and operates Enbridge Pipelines Inc. and a variety of affiliated pipelines in Canada, and has an approximate 27% interest in Enbridge Energy Partners, L.P. which owns the Lakehead System in the U.S. These pipeline systems have operated for over 55 years and now comprise approximately 8,500 miles of pipeline, delivering more than 2 million barrels per day of crude oil and liquids.

In 2019:
Enbridge invested $237,000 in community-strengthening initiatives across Illinois—and supported numerous not-for-profit agencies in the state—aligned to our three focus areas of health and safety, environment, and community;

Across the U.S., Enbridge invested more than $5.2 million in communities near our pipelines, projects and facilities, supporting initiatives that focus on health and safety, environment, and community;
Enbridge’s various employee-driven United Way campaigns from across the U.S. and Canada raised more than $3 million. That total, which includes employee donations, special events, and corporate matching, will help sustain community outreach, poverty reduction, and educational initiatives being coordinated by United Way chapters near Enbridge’s projects and operations;

Through the Our Community Partners and Helping Hands in Action programs, Enbridge employees volunteered thousands of hours for causes they care about and completed hundreds of employee-led projects focused on improving quality of life in communities. In recognition of their efforts, we contributed about $324,000 in volunteer grants and matching gifts to organizations in the U.S. and Canada.

ABOUT ENBRIDGE
Enbridge’s vision is to be the leading energy delivery company in North America. We deliver the energy people need and want—to heat their homes, to keep their lights on, to keep them mobile and connected.

We operate across North America, fueling the economy and people’s quality of life. We move about 30% of the crude oil produced in North America, we transport nearly 20% of the natural gas consumed in the U.S., and we operate North America’s third-largest natural gas utility by consumer count. Enbridge was an early investor in renewable energy, and we have a growing offshore wind portfolio.

We work collaboratively every day to provide safe, reliable energy. Enbridge connects energy supply with growing markets in North America through our four core businesses:

Liquids pipelines
Natural gas pipelines
Gas distribution and storage
Renewable energy

Enbridge was named to the Thomson Reuters Top 100 Global Energy Leaders in 2018; we’ve been selected to Bloomberg’s Gender Equality Index four years running, most recently in 2022; and we have been ranked among Canada’s Top 100 Employers 19 times, most recently in 2022.
