OBITUARY
DALE V. OIJ, 64 CALEDONIA – Dale V. Oij, 64, of Caledonia passed away Thursday July 17, 2014, at his residence, with his family by his side. Dale was born June 28, 1950, in Rockford, the son of Henry and Nettie (Martin) Oij. He married Paula Miller on April 1, 1978, at the Church by the Side of the Road in Rockton. Dale retired after 30 years of service as Director of the Student Center at Rock Valley College. Dale graduated from West High, Rock Valley College and NIU. Dale was an avid Bears fan and loved working with wood and building bird houses for all his friends, in fact, he was referred to by some as “Birdhouse Dale”. He loved going to Pine Hill Resort in Minocqua; he loved his dogs and mentoring his students at Rock Valley College. Dale was a very kind, caring and thoughtful man. Dale is survived by his loving wife, Paula; sister, Barbara Waage; sister-in-law, Debby (Lee Donimari) Hamilton; father-in-law, Paul Miller; special friend, Art (Cheryl ) Delgado; his beloved buddy, Halas; niece, Suzie (Dan) Mullins; great- niece, Kristie Mullins; his special caregiver, Vlad; and other nieces, nephews and cousins. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; special brother-in-law, Arleigh Waage; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Miller.
