BOYD E. JOHNSON – May 6, 1924-April 16, 2013
BOYD E. JOHNSON, 88 BELVIDERE – Boyd E. Johnson, 88, of Belvidere, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in Highview in the Woodlands. He was born May 6, 1924, in Belvidere; the son of Oliver and Nellie (Loveridge) Johnson. Boyd was married to Marilyn Schwebke in Belvidere on December 12, 1946. He was employed as an Electrical Assembler for Barber-Colman Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Boyd served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church; a life member of the VFW John Hugo Kaiser Belvidere Post #1461; a member of American Legion Boone Post #77 and former member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Belvidere Lodge #295. He enjoyed listening to country music, playing cards, woodworking and remodeling projects.
MARILYN L. JOHNSON – September 5, 1927-October 22, 2009
Marilyn and Boyd, both born in Boone County, Illinois, were married in Belvidere in 1946. They remained in the Belvidere area, raised 3 children, were members of the First United Methodist Church, and active in the VFW and Moose Lodge. Boyd served in the Army Air Force during World War II and worked as an Electrical Assembler for Barber-Colman Company for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Boyd enjoyed listening to country music, playing cards, woodworking and remodeling projects. Over the years, Marilyn worked for the Shady Lane, Dr. Shay, and in the cafeteria of Belvidere High School. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and attended a weekly breakfast group.
